Michael Wormstone: Winter Travels
A chance to catch up on what’s happening in Michael Wormstone’s world of travelling, here is his latest blog entry:
‘As many of you know, my work takes me across the globe and this winter I have spent hours traversing the planet in order to communicate our work and ideas.
In December, I attended the 2017 International Conference on the Lens, which is held every other year on the Big Island of Hawaii. The original concept of this meeting was to bring Japanese and American scientists together, but over the years the pool of scientists has expanded to cover the globe. The meeting was successful and I enjoyed excellent discussions with fellow scientists and representatives from industry.
Following the meeting I returned home for Christmas and the New Year (though I spent a lot of the time in the lab) before heading over to Singapore in mid-January when I was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the Hoya Medical Singapore Technical Centre. Hoya Surgical Optics make artificial lenses implanted during cataract surgery and through collaboration we are working together to further advance IOL designs and improve outcomes for cataract patients in the future.’
